6061 aluminum plate is an aluminum-silicon-magnesium alloy strengthened by precipitation hardening. Compared to other heat-treated alloys, 6061 aluminum plate features a good strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance. 6061 aluminum plate machines easily—three to four times faster than steel—making it ideal for milling quick-turn prototypes or any other component where strength and light weight are critical to design and performance. 6061 aluminum plate can be adapted for use in a wide variety of arc welding techniques. Its thermal conductivity transfers and dissipates heat quickly, allowing it to remain stable with less heat distortion as compared to steel and copper.
