Titanium Plate for Sale | Silicon Valley Metal Remnants

Commercially Pure Titanium and Alloys

Titanium Plate for Sale at Very Competitive Prices

Titanium is light, strong, non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, and biocompatible. These properties make titanium and its alloys the preferred material for parts, components, castings, and structures used in aerospace, automotive, chemical, marine, and medical applications. Compared to other metals commonly used in manufacturing, titanium is more expensive. It’s not the lack of titanium ore that contributes to the higher prices—there’s plenty to be mined. It’s the time-consuming process of transforming the ore into pure titanium or titanium alloys. Compared to the processes that produce aluminum and steel, the process for producing new titanium (ore to sponge, sponge to ingot, ingot to mill product) is more complex and labor-intensive.

Machine shops, fabricators, and welders in Silicon Valley, and surrounding areas, looking for titanium plate for sale can take advantage of the local inventory of titanium at Industrial Metal Service. As an alternative to the higher prices for new titanium, we specialize in usable, verified titanium remnants priced well below what you would pay for new titanium sourced from the mill. We carry commercially pure titanium, as well as some of the most frequently used titanium alloys.

CP Titanium Plate

Commercially pure (CP) titanium is graded by strength, formability, and corrosion resistance. The higher the grade number, the higher the strength, whereas the lower the grade number, the higher the corrosion resistance and ductility. Commercially pure titanium is almost 99% titanium. The various grades of commercially pure titanium are the result of additions of oxygen, hydrogen, carbon, iron, and nitrogen elements. The strength of the grade increases with the amount of oxygen, ranging from 0.18% for grade 1 to 0.40% for grade 4.

  • Grade 1 has the highest corrosion resistance and formability, as well as the lowest tensile strength.
  • Grade 2 is one of the most commonly used grades. It offers the same level of corrosion resistance as grade 1, along with greater strength.
  • Grade 3 provides very high tensile strength and corrosion resistance but is one of the least used pure titanium grades.
  • Grade 4 is a very strong grade of titanium, also providing excellent formability and thermal conductivity. It is the preferred grade for surgical hardware.

In-Demand Titanium Alloys

Titanium alloys are produced by adding various percentages of chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, niobium, tantalum, vanadium, and zirconium. Titanium alloys have excellent formability and weldability. There are dozens of titanium alloys to choose from.

Titanium 6-4 (Ti-6Al-4V) is alloyed primarily with aluminum and vanadium, giving it a combination of moderately high tensile strength, good fatigue strength, and intermediate fracture toughness. These properties make it one of the most widely used titanium alloys, though applications are limited to temperatures under 750 °F.

Titanium 10-2-3 (Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al) is alloyed with vanadium, aluminum, and iron, giving it high strength and superior fatigue cycle endurance.

Titanium Plate for Sale Locally

Industrial Metal Service offers an alternative to the high prices of new titanium sourced directly from mills. The number of aerospace, automotive, electronics, medical device, and recreation equipment manufacturers in Silicon Valley and the Greater San Francisco Bay Area generate significant volumes of titanium drops or remnants. Although those scraps may no longer be useful to the manufacturer, the size and dimensions of many of these remnants are more than sufficient to meet the titanium needs of local fabricators, welders, and machine shops.

At Industrial Metal Service, we provide the ultimate in titanium recycling by picking up the remnants as part of our metal recycling service. We then offer titanium plate for sale as verified remnants of commercially pure titanium and commonly-used alloys at prices significantly lower than what you would pay for new titanium plate. If you need your order cut to size, we can arrange for the dimensioning of titanium plate via a waterjet cutting service. We deliver anywhere within the Bay Area and frequently ship to shops nationwide that don’t have the benefit of a local metal supplier.
